Pour l'utilisation d'une VHF, il vous faut être titulaire du CRR. En effet, le Certificat Restreint de Radiotéléphoniste est une licence dont l'examen diffère selon l'utilisation, fluviale ou maritime. La plupart des bateaux-école dispensent les formations nécessaires et proposent l'examen.
La réglementation internationale impose que toute station radioélectrique à bord d'un navire soit dûment autorisée et que le propriétaire du bateau puisse présenter aux autorités compétentes la licence correspondante. L’usage de certains équipements radioélectriques nécessite qu’un opérateur possède la compétence requise; pour une VHF, le CRR est requis.
Pour l'examen, vous disposez de 45 minutes pour répondre à vingt questions (sous forme de QCM) réparties sur trois épreuves:
- généralités du service mobile maritime
- radiotéléphonie VHF
- utilisation pratique de VHF ASN
